Allan Knee’s romantic comedy, Shmulnik’s Waltz, follows the lovable hero, Shmulnik, as he meets the girl of his dreams in turn-of-the-century Russia and pursues her in word and song. His heart is crushed when his love emigrates to America with her family. Shmulnik, willing to go to any length for love, embarks on a journey spanning “old world” Russia and “new world” America in his quest to be reunited with her. The basic story appears frequently in folklore and fairy tales from many cultures. You are sure to enjoy this version told with a yiddish flair!
